What is Posterior Uveitis?

Posterior Uveitis is an intraocular inflammation of the posterior segment (retina and choroid), which can seriously compromise visual acuity in the short and long term. This ocular affection can have an inflammatory, infectious, tumoral and systemic cause.

In the case of systemic diseases, ocular attainment may correspond to the onset episode of the disease. The diagnosis of posterior uveitis can be difficult. It is imperative to establish different diagnostic hypotheses as well as a consistent diagnostic strategy. This conduct always involves a complete clinical history, a rigorous clinical examination as well as the accomplishment of complementary diagnostic exams.
